20 sites from the region, the most remarkable ones in terms of wine tourism, were awarded a 2016 trophy, including 6 Best of d’Or, in the context of the annual competition organised since 2012 by the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The winners, rewarded with a Best Of d’Or are Château Carbonnieux (a Pessac-Léognan ranked Grand Cru) in the Architecture and Countryside category, Château de Reignac (an Entre-deux-mers) in the Discovery & Innovation category, Domaine de Grange Neuve (Bergerac and Monbazillac producer) in the Accommodation category, Château de la Dauphine (a Fronsac) in the Restoration category, Lynch-Bages & Cie in the Wine tourism services category and Château Coutet (a Saint-émilion) in the Wine tourism promotion of environmental practices category.

It was Lynch-Bages & Cie (owners of several châteaux, especially in Médoc) who won the Best Of Wine Tourism International, in the context of the international version of the competition, via the Network of Great Wine-growing Capitals, which brings together eight cities from “Old Europe” and the “New World”.
